MEET HANS
I grew up on a small farm in rural Wisconsin. My parents are both teachers who worked extremely hard to raise my sisters and me well. From them, I learned the value of education, hard work, and integrity. I moved to Platte County after I graduated from Benedictine College, where I studied International Business and Finance and minored in Spanish.
What drew me to Platte County was its proximity to the places I wanted to go: 20 minutes from downtown, 10 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from Zona Rosa. What has kept me here is the affordable rent, great neighborhoods, and excellent school districts. Platte County is the place where I feel a genuine sense of community and want to raise my family.
I have worked in the logistics and supply chain management industry since college, and I spend my days helping clients get their freight from point A to point B in the most efficient, time-sensitive, and cost-effective manner. It is this skill set that I believe we need more of in Platte County, and officials who are capable of putting in the work to make sure our government works for all of us, not just the loudest voices.
WHY I’M RUNNING
I am running for Platte County Clerk because I believe that our County Government needs leadership that raises the bar, not lowers it. For too long, we have believed that the bad actions of our elected officials in Platte City don’t have real consequences, and that okay leadership was enough. That needs to change, and I plan to help make that change happen.
Reforming the Pay Structure
The way Platte County officials set their own salaries is broken. It’s time for a transparent, structured system that takes politics out of pay raises and lets our elected leaders focus on what matters most: serving the people of Platte County.
Improving Government Efficiency
With experience in the logistics and supply chain management industry, Hans brings the perspective and experience necessary to change how the office of Clerk runs. His plan to work with the current staff to improve processes will focus on measurable improvements, not just empty promises that sound good but don’t deliver.
More Accessibility
The Platte County Clerk’s Office needs to be more accessible, beyond the low-hanging fruit of keeping the office open until 5:00 PM each day. The Clerk’s office, from forms for the Homestead Tax Credit to the Senior Citizens Tax Credit, and agendas and minutes for the County Commission should be easy to access online and in-person throughout the County.
